Will there be a Hydrogen Boost in Glasgow?
After Glasgow receives £9.4 million of funding for hydrogen production, HIL gives an insight into the key points of the project.

A trailblazing hydrogen storage project near Glasgow has received £9.4milion of funding.

Located at ScottishPower’s Whitelee Windfarm in East Renfrewshire, the project will produce hydrogen for storing energy and providing zero-carbon fuel.

It will also provide 2.5-4 tonnes of green hydrogen a day – enough to provide enough zero-carbon fuel for 225 buses travelling to and from Glasgow each day.

The partnership, made up of ScottishPower, ITM Power and BOC, is currently going through the planning process for the new facility and aims to have green hydrogen available to the commercial market by 2023.
